Description

In this course, we examine the position of Women in Islam - a crucial, and debated issue in Islam. The course starts from a historical review of human creation and its relation to women. It looks into woman's position from social, economic and political perspectives; explains rights and responsibilities of women; and discusses important issues like marriage contract, divorce, polygamy, wife-beating, etc. A student will get an overview on different issues related to muslim women from this course. The course is designed primarily based on the text by Dr. Jamal Badawi, a well-known Islamic scholar of present time.
